That seems to be how most people deal with the snow around here

Did you not know though ?
If some revs is good, more is better....

I'm heading off in a minute.
I'll start the old Golf up, engage first gear and let the clutch up with no throttle whatsoever. I guarantee that it will trickle up the hill at tickover with no fuss or wheelspin. Less is more.

We've got 6 inches of ice in our cul de sac.
The Laguna accross the way hasn't moved in a week because they won't be told that giving it the beans really doesn't work and that reversing out on tickover to maximise weight transfer like everyone else has been succesfully doing for 3 weeks now really does work fine.

Wheelspin is GOOD - well it is for donuts at the back of my house, on full lock I can boot it in first and slide the front end across the ramp of the garage - got it down to perfection now, that is until one day I get a bit of grip and end up in the garage via the unopened door!!

We sit here watching these videos mouth open in disbelief
if this tool can't walk in his street what makes him think he can drive in it. He got a fair way up and should have just called that a win and took the bus!

Andi - 9/1/10 at 09:52 AM

He! He! PMSL
Firstly at the driving skills but mostly at his misfortune slipping over. A bit wicked but, soooo funny

Its not just his inability to drive up the hill, or his falling over, its how hard it was for him to get back up again lol

JoelP - 9/1/10 at 10:26 AM

i think he bumped his car on that house, hence the anger

Steve G - 9/1/10 at 01:00 PM

He deserved it - what a complete t*t !!! Some people shouldnt be allowed to own cars!! Was laughing so much when he fell over and got stuck under the door. Was half hoping the car would start sliding down the hill at that point!!

Thats not funny... it's better than that!

I went out to a breakdown yesterday. While there, a bloke in an Audi A4 accross the road was trying to get off his drive. Engine bouncing off the rev limiter, in first then reverse with steering going lock to lock. Went on for 15mins and he moved...erm... nowhere!
Once I'd sorted the breakdown I walked over just as he gave up. "Mind if I have a go?" "Go ahead, but it's imposible". I got in put it in reverse and drove out on tick-over. It wasn't any special trick, just a case of not reving the tits off it.

Brilliant. He deserved everything he got, and the indignity of youtube!

He had absolutely no skill, no patience, and i think he was confusing abition with ability!!

I wouldnt have even attempted it tbh. Not even worth the risk.

What a knoooooooooooob head

morcus - 9/1/10 at 04:14 PM

Was that real? I can't believe you'd try that much. It wasn't even 'Black Ice' as stated in the video, it was quite clearly a thick layer of visable ice, maybe more than half an inch thick.

Anyone else been out and seen people driving on the bit of the road which has been pressed into Ice rather than the fresh snow?

NigeEss - 10/1/10 at 09:23 AM

most of them !
