im after buying a race suit for doing trackdays,iv been looking and they seem to be a bit pricey,im after some advise where to buy one from and how much.
These are quite nice
Not bad when its clean
Buy the best you can afford, but don't skimp on safety.
Have a look on eBay, MSA regs change (for racing) and the older FIA suits are no longer vaild, they're perfectly good but no longer allowed, should be some bargains.
Is AWS racewear acceptable?

i would like a sparco one but they are well out of my price range, also are kart race suits any good, what are the differance between kart ones and rally ones?
Kart ones are not fire resistant, the one thing you need in an enclosed car
Its definitely worth having a good search on Ebay. I got 7 pairs of the A1 GP Team Portugal pit crew overalls for £30 and my mate got a pair of Nascar
pit crew overalls from Ebay America because he is a big lad and couldn't get a cheap pair big enough over here. Remember there is a difference
between flame proof and fire proof. Some Karts suits can melt in a fire because they are designed to protect you if you come out the Kart and skid
along the track so be carefull what you get

Even Nomex suits (and that's what you're looking for) aren't fire proof, they are fire resistant, they won't burn or melt and are poor conductors of heat (from a fire to you) and do offer a good degree of protection but they're not fire proof.
didn't think you had to have one for track days?
obviously a good idea, but didn't think it was essential
Ive got nomex overalls that i use in the garage. Only single layer stuff mind. Anti static too. Ill be using those purely as ill probably spend
most of the time under the bonnet than driving!!
Id get a set of double layer nomex. triple layer might be too hot, but again, is it really necessary? Youll know long before anything explodes on a
track day, and youre more at risk from boiling water and flying dbris than fire.
try www.racewear.co.uk - you can get a proban suit quite reasonably and last time I looked Proban was ok for sprints and hill climbs, so should be
fine for a trackday.
Cheers

And if you buy a second hand suit, check that the seat area has not been soiled pre-'moment'!
Hello,
i was looking for a 3 layer Nomex suit for a while and i finally found one last week.
I phoned a friend of mine who is working for a company who rents race car and rally cars.
they have plenty of suits for sale because when you rent a car , they let you the suit for the race.
usually, drivers do buy the suit, but sometimes they don't.
So the suit i bought was never worn and i pay 230 euro ( i am in Belgium) for a OMP trend 2 suit ( built in 2008) in his bag.
that's the best price i could find.

thanks for the advise, what do you think about getting one from demon tweeks, they seem a bit dear.
Personally I've always found DT to be very good but unless you're in a rush to get it have a look on the Bay first, I bought mine from there, almost new current spec, about half price
