I need to renew my insurance.
I have a Renault Laguna 1.8 16v Alize.
I was quoted 548 pounds
I quoted a Renault Laguna 1.8 16v Sport as well
I was quoted 517 pounds
Both cars have the same group insurance. The difference is on the equipment with the sport having alloys, spoiler and trip computer.
Now, if i put mine as modified and install the alloys from the Sport version, the insurance will go up to 598 pounds.
Are they taking the p**s????
the next quote was 917 pounds and
R*C want 2608 pounds.
I give up. Not buying any
Was that on a price comparison site?
Ive hy tintop (and wifes and house) with direct line, theyve been the best by a good 20-25% for the last 4 years.
im guessing you are 22ish
im 24 running my seat leon cupra 180bhp and paying £346 fully comp

I tink I need to Lie about my age too Im 43 clean licence 11 years no claims and pay £550 on a 2001 Golf GTI turbo 150bhp
I pay 48 euros a year for my "classic car": Vauxhall Chevette
I just had a chat with my neighbour who had a Nissan 350Z.
For 9K miles a year was under 400 quid.
No wonder why so many drivers don't buy insurance. It is a fkn joke.
Try LV or the Post Office
Post office quoted me 3500+ 1 year ago for my 1.8 Clio RSi
Vectra 1.9CDTi SRi 150Bhp. £190 fully comp with Swiftcover.
Move to the countryside!!!
Did you ask them why it was cheaper for the sport version? Cos that's just backward imho...
Problem is they "filter out the undesirables" by sticking a high price on it. My quotes last year ranged from £600 - 5000 (car's worth
3k) so I guess it's a polite way of saying "no"
didn't read the whole thread, i found elephant really good when i bought a bmw 328 at 23... was about £400 i think at the time

Ok then you'll like this one, 1 claim 2 sp30's. 29 without any ncb.
£700 for an 05 diesel Mondeo
£1400 for a V BMW 750i with ALL the extras.
Not sure how they work that out do they really think I'm only twice as likely to crash a monster like that?
Oh and wait until you're paying several times more for the insurance than you are for the car, £740 for a £150 car. Should be illegal that.
The best one, again from last year, was direct line. They wanted £1000 for the Mondeo AND a £900 excess, then they asked if I wanted to go ahead with
it. When I stopped laughing the guy asked me how I could make it more competitive, and I told him to bring the excess from stupid to reasonable. So he
dropped it to £400 (and I told them they can halve it again) but that put another £300 on the quote. Eventually I just said they're having a joke
and I should do them for false advertising.
So to answer your original question, yes they are completely barking mad; never mind a screw loose they don't have one fully tightened!
Im 23 and thats the same as what i am paying for my group 15 Jag
I always found direct line really expensive. They wanted nearly 3k for my 1.4 civic!
Whatever quote you get online, always phone them up and ask if it is the cheapest price they can do. Its amazing how the numbers significantly drop!

You need to shop around.
I currently pay £600andsomething for my 996 turbo with the factory X50 engine upgrade (different map/GT2 intercoolers/etc).
For 450bhp and 457ftlbs I'm fairly happy with that.
Ahh so £220 fully comp including breakdown on the TVR chimaera is not so bad then

Insurance in theory pays out who you hit not you, so that's how it can be more than the value of your car - If you hit a Zonda with your Mondeo costs for repairs are going to be a bit more than the value of your car even if you just scuff the epoxy.
Presumably you're tried the price comparison websites?
I saved a fortune by doing them. I think my insurance dropped by over 60%!
Cheers,
James
As per James above, try www.moneysupermarket.com - they've given me the cheapest quote every time i've tried that particular comparrison
site - even compared to others such as comparethemarket.com.
Currently paying £208 fully comp with Esure via MoneySupermarket
Watch Elephant - My renewal came in at £325 for a 1.2 Suzuki Jimny with 1 NCB (age 35)
Did the online new business quote from them and got £215
So phoned renewals and gave them the NEW quote number and they price matched themsevles.
Thats daft Im 27 with 5 years ncb 6 points for speeding and im paying 390 fully comp for my 525 tds which is group 15 with swift cover and that wsnt
the cheapest.
My apprentice at work is paying i think 2k with 750 quid excess for a 2 litre focus at 19. Thats just daft!!

Got a quote for my 21 yr old son in Locost, 1300 x-flow, 8k miles £524 comp, thought that was bloody marvelous. Fresh driver so no NCB.
