My Dad has been busy digitising old family photos and has found this........ I'm normally quite good at vintage stuff but this has me stumped! It
will be 1930's and although my Grandfather was a mechanic/garage owner I know from having talked to him before he died he never built
'specials' . It's HUGE that's my Grandmother sat in the drivers seat and she was about 5' 7" and she looks tiny!!
There's a whole pint in this for me so do your best lol
Are you sure she's not in a normal size car and someone's just parked an Austin 7 right in front really near the camera

My visiting grandad agrees with the above, an 'austin 7 nippy', and now he's off on a good ol` days of cars rant that'll last hours!
It's not an Austin 7 nippy, look at the back end, it's a similar shape but much longer on the mystery car.
From the size I'd be looking at American cars.

Austin 7 Nippy or some variation of...... thought that..... but unless there was some clever 1930's style Photoshopping going on it's WAY

the white area behind her is admittedly suspicious..... hmmmmm I have seen the original photo mind you and it looks legit enough for the time and that
white area was something else if I recall rather than a 'hole' in the picture ......

the white area looks like a teepee or some sort of tent, and a row of them behind it.

Did your grandad ever live in the states or visit the states the strange looking thing in the background could be a Tee Pee Wig Wam as it appears to be triangular in shape could be some form of Canvas tent. The car deffinitely looks like an american style of car.
Hmmmm big enough to be American, but it looks like a right hooker....but then they did do some....It has a boat-tail end, sporty yet mahoosive
......
Don't know, but a guess would be a bespoke American car ....

It look LHD to me which fits with the american theme. It looks very tall like some of the early Fiat racers... a tricky one.

Definately not a BSA or Singer the BSA scout was only made in 1 roadster model and it didnt have a boat tail neither did the Singer looks Yank to
me.

definately has the Morris "M" type look about it, especially with those sills...but it looks too big, and the wheel hubs are different to
the Morris "M" type chassis.

just to add, I'm sure that is tepee in background, would this go on to suggest an american theme, perhaps a red indian reenactment and they went
there in this car? Or this was someone's car that was also there and they were in america on holiday??

interesting where the door handle is we where still having suicide doors in the 30's weren't we
27" wheels on the Singer Sports Junior make it a possibility but it looks nothing like any of the pictures Google provides........ suicide doors
weren't a given in the 30's either I'd say it was possibly a 'Special' built by someone my Grandad knew BUT the bodywork
looks too well built......
They never went on holiday to America either as far as I know....

the shape of the doors is also unique, It has to be a special bodied car.
The wheels appear to be bolted rather than on splined hubs which seem more a 40's
I think that it's a Fiat, friend had one which I think was 1928 (ish), and looked very much like the one shown. To add to that it's definately a left hooker, just look at the seat, no space left on the photo'd side. Cheers Ray
Fiat is an interesting one....... as I recall my Grandfather had some kind of link with Alfa Romeo as I vaguely remember him turning up in a couple when he stlll had the garage.....

Apart from the boat tail, it bears more than a passing resemblance to an MG M-Type Midget. The louvered panels along the bottom, the shape of the
bonnet and the wire wheels with cycle wings are spot on though.
Every man and their dog were making specials back then however, are we sure it's not some obscure bitsa?
