Following on from my thread about the cracked sump... got it back today from Raceline and they had marked where the weep was coming from. Can
certainly see the 'knock' to the fin, but the actual crack is not visible (not to me anyway).
Does the location of this damage make the suggested repair particularly difficult?

Should be repairable IMHO.
You could spend time with a dremel type grinder trying to dig out the ends of the crack, then weld it.
Or you could put a hole saw through, about the size of your red circle, then weld in a plug. This could be quicker and more effective.
Or you could weld a patch to the inside, space permitting.
Whichever way it will need to be scrupulously clean.
Geoff.

Take it along to SEABASS he will be able to sort it and you are kind of neigbours.
Damdycashes sump got tangoed by a rock and a local welding specialist AG Browns in Glenrothes sorted it with some nice tig work, however its a long
way to travel. Ask James to sort it.....for some gas tokens
Seal the inside with some Araldite or liquid metal, no problems with it then. Just key the surface and spread a layer over it.
Cheers guys.
Never really though about this... is the oil in the pan under any sort of pressure?
personally i have always brazed cracked sumps but you could tig it
Id clean it up on the indside and tig the inside up. Wont be visible then.
