Vectra cdti 1.9 EGR removal

Hi all has anyone removed the EGR valve/ solenoid from the above engine
I have been told you can't do it because it is connected to the ECU
I was wondering if it could be removed but left connected like the bike engine boy's do with the EXUP valve

may i ask why you want to remove it?

if its playing up remove it clean it up and put it back.

I have been on the Vectra c forum and there seems to be lots and lots of people that have problems with them
I know you can buy a blanking plate from Fiat that helps
but i was just wondering if it could be removed when the time comes to clean it
At the moment i have no problems with mine

My das EGR valve on his diesel Corsa is always clagging up with carbon and he ends up with black crap billowing out and the power starts to hold back.
It can be taken off and cleaned but it's a pain in the arse as it's quite buried.
I'd like to take it off too but as you say it could throw and EGM light and that's what I understand from reading around.

It's easy to remove, just a few bolts. You can make a blanking plate from a can of coke or just clean it out with carb cleaner. It is wired to the ecu so just leave it pluggd in, blank it off and you shouldn't have any problems.

Thats what i am on about
If it could be left plugged in but removed of the engine like the bike engine boys do with the exup valves to stop the light coming on on the dash

the 120 or the 150 engine ?

do you have a plug in tuning chip box or have you had it mapped ?

Yeah loads of times, i'm an AA patrol and we are forever fixing them and Saabs with that fault. We have even been given blanking plates and a can of EGR cleaner to fix them.

Simple !

Just fit a blanking plate, clean the valve and mount the valve on longer studs and spacers above its original position.

As long as the EGR valve is electrically connected and free to move it won't generate a fault code.

If you want to keep OEM, buy one from scrappy, Clean thoroughly, when time comes, install.
in the meantime yo have the other in the cleaning process.
I plan to do so with my injectors as I have two sets lying around my shop.
