I replaced an ECU on a mk4 golf the other day and it has brought up "Airbag Fault" on the dash. Does anyone know which part of vag-com i
need to use to reset it?
Sorry but im still learning to use the program and want to be safe with it and not cause any problems by going on the wrong part.
Thanks.
Hi,
What year is the golf?
Cheers.
its a 2000 golf 1.8T. i have seen the warning about scanning the airbag, will it be ok using vag-com 409.1?
please look at the airbag controller part number,if it is NOT 6Q0-909-605-A then scan it,if it is this number there is a problem.
409.1 should work fine,succes.
it is that part number, hence why im not sure bout working on it. VW want £80 to reset it. trying to save a mate some money but dont want to bugger it up.
what a bad luck,80 bucks, shame on volkswagen, best is to look for another controller of an accident car i think
Are you sure it's the correct ECU for the car? Does VAG-COM report something like "18259 - Powertrain Data Bus: Missing Message from ABS
Controller"?
I had that message on VAG-COM (under engine diagnostics I think??) when I tried an A3 ECU in a Passat. No way to get around that except by using the
correct ECU, I believe.
the engine ECU is identical to the one we removed.
I removed the ECU but put it back in a week later to run the car to put charge back in the battery and the AIRBAG FAULT light came on then before i
even fitted the new ECU.
Can i swap the airbag ecu for a different one? can get a replacement for 10-20 quid with different part numbers on it that i can scan.
