Chassis is a flat ladder affair made out of 4x2 box with towers at the front for the struts. Further reinforced with a 4 point mounted roll bar.
MK 1 or 2 Escort cross members bolt on for standard Escort suspension.
I have a bare chassis here for sale if you want it.
Here's an ebay item I was watching a little while ago which has pics of bare chassis, body etc etc.

Reason I was watching one, I had a thought (for about as long as it took to push "watch this item"
