Any Autoelectrical geniuses on here ?

Problem with a friends 1996 Celica. He bought it as a stolen recovered and the
scum tried to hotwire it ripping the loom to bits in the process. He got a key with it but
no remote for the security system.
My mate has attempted to sort it but he is far from an autospark and has fried one ecu
but managed to get it to start. But it only runs for a few seconds then dies.

He's happy to lose the stock alarm/immobiliser but how to remove it ?
I'm useless at electrics and colourblind as well so not even going to try.

So need a genius to sort it or would it be easier to convert it to mega squirt or bike carbs and megajolt.

One more thing, whatever the solution has to be cheap

megasquirt is probably the cheapest option...unless there are some smart cookies out there with the nous to remove the stock stuff....

shouldnt be too much of a problem to sort out. If i am correct does he have an oval type 2 button remote or a rectangular 2 button type? one is easier to disarm than the other. is the alarm going off when you trying to start?
ok just realised you got no remotes. If he has got the original key try disconnecting the battery, turn the key to igniton ON. recoonect battery with door open! then try to start.

At a guess if the engine runs a second, i bet thw fuel pump is not running.
It prob is running when the ignition is first turnned on or the starter is active but stops when the key is released from the starter posistion.

Thought of that so ran a permanent live to the fuel pump and still the same.
Turn key and it starts, release key it stays running for 4 seconds then there's a slight
rise in revs and it then cuts out.
