I have been looking at the various different options for lifting the car in the garage to be able to work on it ( both kitcar and tintop) and would ideally love a 4 poster lift however room being limited I have to be sensible in what i can use. I have seen this and was wondering whether anyone else had used it or even something similar.

Get the front end of a forklift truck. That will do it and take up hardly any room.

I looked at these a while back, they would be ideal for my basement as I pretty low ceilings anyway so can't lift a car up much.

One thing that slightly concerned me is how stable the supports are; if you were underneath e.g. heaving on a big breaker bar would it be possible to pull the car enough to tip over the supports (especially with a very light car like a Locost)?

This wouldn't be an issue if the supports were rigidly attached to the ramps, but it appears they are on pivots and simply rely on the weight of the car and flat bottom of the supports keeping it up.

The amount of lift is more useful, but it looks like it would be a real ball ache to raise the the car by running from one corner to the next.

This is my rather locost way of doing it, takes about 40 mins to get it up there, one block at a time but saves a lot of bending over (lol i'm only 22 and sound 88). I did it like this as i was fitting a new sump but i have had all the wheels on 3 blocks before. handbrake on and its solid.

Those blocks look adequate, but if anyone copies this idea be careful that your blocks aren't of the thinner brick-side type. They can crumble VERY easily.

I usually use so big blocks of wood...
