A 1000-ish Kg Elise tub with a nearly 1200 BHP twin-turbo engine...

With that much power, with little weight 4wd would have been a sensible idea!

x2

Looks like a slightly oversized elise!

eddie99 - 29/3/10 at 01:05 PM

Its been designed by a good english company as well so has nothing todo with henessey apart from they paid for it...
It'll be good!

MikeR - 29/3/10 at 01:07 PM

and he supplies the engines.

curious how it will handle with the engine weight / longer body compared to the shorter elise / lighter engine.

wouldn't really matter if it went round corners worse than the titanic, it'd have anything away on the straights

smart51 - 29/3/10 at 01:15 PM

1000 lb ft. You can not put that much torque onto the ground using tyres. Not until you're in 7th gear at least. Surely there's nowhere in the world that you could use that much power, except perhaps the nardo bowl.

Stick another four wheels on it and drive them all and it's still not going to be anything like sensible

MakeEverything - 29/3/10 at 03:10 PM

Love it.

Steve Hignett - 29/3/10 at 03:27 PM

I think the concept is good, and the power is cool, but I'd rather it had been done to look slightly different!

The Elise is such a good looking car, that to stretch one make it (IMO) look a little awkward?

i think the elise has always been far too small, and to me makes it look wrong. fast cars should be big i think. with this stretched, i think it looks a lot better

russbost - 29/3/10 at 03:55 PM

Yeah, but come on - £400k!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Liam - 29/3/10 at 04:21 PM

Reminds me of this...

Looks too much like a breathed on Elise to be worth the £400K (!!). Well I suppose it is a breathed on Elise, so it really isn't worth the £400K .

LOL at the 1200bhp version! Think smart51 has a point. I mean even an F1 car with sticky race tyres has to wait until the downforce builds up a bit until it can use full throttle. This thing, loads more power, low revving torquey delivery, turbo kick, road tyres, naff all downforce... well you're gonna have to be pretty good at using part throttle! (or drifting )

There's strong smell of BS about this car.
Hennessey has a dubious reputation.
Wait and see.

dlatch - 29/3/10 at 04:53 PM

i want one

Sensible?

flak monkey - 29/3/10 at 05:24 PM

I like it....alot....

RK - 29/3/10 at 05:28 PM

They wait til some sucker spends 400 k and then they build another one. Conceptually, it isn't much different than the original AC Cobra though is it? Those things still can't go around corners, but it doesn't seem to bother anybody.

speedyxjs - 29/3/10 at 05:48 PM

I dont think 400k is all that much when you consider it is more powerful than the veyron which cost £1,000,000.

BenB - 29/3/10 at 06:48 PM

I like it. A hell of a lot. Now where can I get my hands on 400k......

Just watched the F1 BTW. I normally like Mark Webber but WTF was that Koala hugger doing?

dazzx10r - 29/3/10 at 06:48 PM

fu##in mad! I wonder how long it'll take me to save £400k....

But the Veyron is a hell of a lot more than a 1000bhp engine. Now every man and his dog thinks you can stick a 1000+bhp engine in any old lump of fiberglass and they've created a super-supercar deserving of a higher pricetag than your average lambo, zonda etc. Er, no.

At the end of the day this is a fettled elise with a GM crate engine with some bolt-on go-faster bits thrown in. Definately not worth anywhere near £400K, though it is quite cool.

What a waste of time and effort, what's wrong with a pinto and screaming it within an inch of it's life and still being able to control the car...perhaps I'm just too old but it's all playstation gone mad to me

boggle - 29/3/10 at 09:35 PM
