Trolley jacks rather than bottle jacks for that particular job Ben??

Bottle jacks could work if you could find one small enough..

I need one for each of the platforms when its on the ground so that I can lift the car to put the end plates on - save using the current seup as you can see.

Costco are selling a 3tonne unit, very low profile which will suit your needs.

From memory they are about 60gbp

Your jacking higher than a lot of garage jacks would stretch to, the 10tonne truck jacks I used to use wouldnt lift as high as your after.

It lifts to 21 inches...according to this forum but the UK one I have is red but looks more or less the same.

This is similar to it..

The large range is the biggest problem for a bottle jack.

Distinctly not cheap, and is about 2" too tall at lowest point for the spec, but this one does 125mm-800mm.

Have a look in Halfords, they are having a big sale at the moment and had lots of shop soiled stuff on sale locally yesterday.

It's designed for 4x4's where a regular jack won't even get the wheels off the ground, though at 2 tonne's it's a bit lightweight for a land/range rover.

still looking for a jack, the maximum width is 290.
