What is the process for changing the engine number on your logbook, engined replaced like for like.
Fill in the new number in the relevant box on the V5 and send it off to the address printed on there.
Thats it, you should get the V5 back with the new number on.
They might ask for proof, but its unlikely if its the same capacity....

I would send a receipt and a photo of the engine number as well as the required changes on the V5.
Belt 'n braces like
When I put the zetec in my MGB, I just filled in new capacity, and new engine number on the V5, back it came all updated, no questions.
Just did mine last month... some new regulations came in to force recently that means you need to give proof of any engine change (receipt,
AA/RAC/Insurance inspection, letter from a garage etc). I went to my local garage and they signed a blank sheet of headed notepaper and I wrote the
letter myself.
