Woohoo!

Well done Mclaren!!!

Well done Jenson, well done Lewis!

James - 18/4/10 at 09:12 AM

Please don't let the stewards spoil it!

a really entertaining race IMHO, Jenson drove really well but Hamilton was awesome!

jambojeef - 18/4/10 at 09:32 AM

I thought it was pretty clear that it was a racing incident. There was no advantage gained by Lewis in the end and the lollipops went up almost together by both teams, hope the stewards leave that one be.

As for Jenson's go-slow move at the hairpin, on the replay that looked very very slow - I think I heard Brundle say there was a pretty specific rule against backing up the pack on the last safety car lap and then gunning it - worked though didnt it?!

StevieB - 18/4/10 at 10:05 AM

If they punish Lewis for the incident, Vettel should also have a penalty for tagging Hammy into the mechanics area - far more dangerous IMHO.

Vettel hould also be investigated for nudging Lewis into Webber and sending him off the track under the safety car.

Having said all that, I'd be happier if they just left it all down to racing and let us fans watch a season that really could hark back to the old days of hard racing and big rivalries.

Well done JB! Great drive and a deserved winner!

I still think it's ludicrous that you can have such a significant lead wiped out by a safety car. Also thought it was a bit over-the-top to put it out in the first place!

As for Hamilton... he needs reigned in! Vettel was AHEAD, so Hamilton should have yielded immediately! To continue driving down the straight whilst straddling he lines was just ridiculous - where did he think he was going? And yes, Vettel should not have done what he did, but I can almost understand where he was coming from... it was a 'F-off and stop being a prat' type swipe!

Then there was his cross-country to dive into the pits...

He should be penalised as it was an ill-disciplined drive! It's not the 'Hamilton-show', so he should be subject to the same penalties as others.

All IMHO... of course...

NigeEss - 18/4/10 at 10:57 AM

Not a Hamilton fan then Scootz

As mentioned above, they should get rid of all the bloody silly rules and regs and let
the drivers race like the good old days.

So if he gets a penalty by you're reckoning then so should one or both of the FIA cars ( ooops I mean ferrari) for almost the same pit lane entrance rerun.

Where's the comparison? Vettel / Hamilton was IN the pit-lane... Massa / Alonso was in the slip LEADING to the pit-lane entrance? They are allowed to pass there if the opportunity presents itself...

scootz - 18/4/10 at 11:11 AM

... the Stewards have decided that a 'reprimand' will do for both Hamilton / Vettel.

What... more inconsistency in F1?

This was the part I was comparing from your quote.

I'm glad there is only to be a reprimand to be honest. Seems to me to be fair given the amount of "other incidents " during the race.
At least it was not boring for a change.

GeorgeM - 18/4/10 at 11:35 AM

Great result... glad common sense prevailed.

.........DESPITE the stewards attempt to help Ferrari (Alonso) get
back into the race by introducing an unnecessary safety car

iti_uk - 18/4/10 at 12:45 PM

Yup, well done JB and LH. Good racing there, pretty much all the way through too!

To my eyes, the Ferrari pass-into-the-pitlane looked the same as the Hamilton vs Vettel entry. I can't imagine they could try to penalise one and not the other.

I agree that the Hamilton vs Vettel post-stop incident was initially just a "racing incident", but there was nothing to be gained by Hamilton's refusal to pull in behind Vettel once the situation had run its course (about half a second at most).

Silly stuff.

Have to say the 2nd safety car was pointless & stayed out far too long - I really could see how Alonso got back up the order, but was all down to that safety car. It would have been interesting to see an interview between Alonso & Massa afterwards - I'm guessing that's going to be "friendly rivalry" just like it was with Lewis!
