My son Pete was out this weekend for the first two rounds of the Northern Sports & Saloon car championship. The 1.6 Honda Civic performed well, finishing 2nd in class to the more powerfull Saxo in both races. He should be able to get a bit closer to the Citroen this year I reckon.. if he can get past some of the slower "quick" cars, if you know what I mean. In the second race he's up against a supercharged V6 Beetle, 400bhp? ..all good fun though!

There are some videos up here;

Round One

Round Two part 1

Round Two part 2

...and a few pics from the weekend here:

i'll check out the vids later andy, need to go and do some work

The tyres were better in the second race, but it was colder..well, freezing actually, so everyone's lap times were slower than Saturday.

The Integra got a whack in the right rear, the wheel was toeing out. Very similar to what Pete suffered in the last round, last year. The floorpan looks better though, no ripples!

From what I can gather it wasn't his fault, he's planning on putting his in car footage up soon.

He must have been getting frustrated with that Beetle in front,it must have been slowing him down a 1 or 2 seconds a lap, your going to have to get that camera sorted,it was sending my eyes funny every time he hit a bump
Do you have a link to the results and lap times etc Andy.

looks good, what are the cost like for this kind of series? per event etc.....

You can't beat an eclectic mix all on the one grid.
All different abilities.

I keep meaning to try the camera with the auto focus turned off, it may stop that blurring,

Re costs, it's not cheap, but not stupid either. Around £280 for a double header weekend entrabce fees. Club mmbership is £15 for the year, plus fuel, and any other consumables. Not really far off trackday costs, but you get less tracktime, If things go well though, it should be quality tracktime.

Results are on the DDMC website here

i'll try and get to the next meet if i can

I'd be interested to know what folks think about this little incident..

The camera car (Sierra XR4) apparently fluffed a gear change coming out of "sunny out" allowing the Integra to move up the inside to make a pass into the next left hander. Meanwhile the Skooby is coming through to lap them both...

Crash bang wallop

PAUL FISHER - 20/4/10 at 11:29 AM

I think the escort should have waiting to lap them after the corner,he could see on his approach that the Integra and sierra were racing for position,he was only coming round to lap them, although he was racing his own race,he was not under any pressure at that point with no cars directly behind him pushing to pass him,at the point when the escort decided to go for the pass, the Integra was already moving passed the sierra,he must have known it was going to be tight 3 cars all going into the left hander.

Andy D - 20/4/10 at 11:40 AM

That's sort of what I was thinking Paul, the Skoob (not an Escort) was not being pressurised, so why not wait untill the straight, and he'd have easily blown past them.

Did wonder if he'd taken the Integras move to the left as a sign to blast through, thinking the Sierra would also pull over.. even though he couldn't cos the Teg was there.. hmmm

PAUL FISHER - 20/4/10 at 02:51 PM

Oop's yes a scooby, you even said it was a scooby in your link to the video post LOL.
But yes if he had someone pushing him from behind he could have justified that move, but there was no rush, with all that extra pace and power he had

bigfoot4616 - 21/4/10 at 04:19 PM

looked to me like the scoob went partly on the grass when he passed. should of waited, there's no way 3 cars where going to get through there.

just found the footage from the integra http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_SXPDivTD2s
