We bought this last month
1978 Chevy Corvette 5.7 V8
its a fresh import so not road legal yet.
The head gaskets have gone and its missing a few interior bits so if anyone has any corvette bits laying around give me a shout
ooh
The Americans can't do much right, but they can do muscle cars.
Not exactly my cuppa tea, but does look impressive.
And not sure whats going to cost more, the fuel bill or rear tyre bill
CAR PORN!!!
Your all right, its a yank tank, but it is one that, has an oddity, to it
Do i like it yes
would i own one no
but the sound, Fantastic
And, it dont look bad either !!
My 'wanted one since I was a lad' car!
Love it, want it, hate you
is it manual?
god how much will the road tax be?
Great opportunity to upgrade the V8 lump to an LT5 or even better an LSx!
love it.
I love them - yes they have their flaws, but they are an iconic car without doubt.
I cant see the picture but do like Corvette's.
Is it the big valve fuel injection motor?
Very Nice & good choice
Here's a few pics of my dads 1981 Corvette Stingray, he's had it for about 7 years now, put a brand new engine out of the crate in it last
year & supercharged it, running around 450bhp & a bag full of torque

They are one of the few american cars that look fast standing still
I'm another that had a poster of one when I was little
Its not injection it has a Rochester carb
5.7l v8 and it puts out a massive 195bhp 260lbft
it has a lot of emissions stuff on it even a CAT. who says the Americans are the biggest polluters
new inlet better flow and a lot lighter
all these pics have aroused me!!!
Nice car but the iconic Corvettes IMO are the 1960 & 1967 427's
Phil
im not old enough to remember them
How can 5.7l put out only 195bhp!!!!!
eek and double eek!
Good luck with the fuel bill - looks absolutely fantastic.
195 bhp but 265lbf
emissions kill the bhp and it only revs to 5k
Please feel free to answer this on a u2u if you don't want everyone to know but how much did it cost you landed in the UK?
Thanks!

lol the misses was in charge of the camera
Lovely car! I had an '81 C3 last year for a few months was great fun but the thought of putting it through an MOT scared me.
I have a haynes manual and some new weatherstrips kicking around if you need anything.
Car was great fun, got about 11MPG with a 600cfm double pumper carb, fine as a fun-car but I actually ran mine every day and it started to get a
little too costly.
Putting your foot down and letting it kick down 2 gears is brilliant fun but you can actually see the petrol gauge move when you are doing it. My G/F
hated the acceleration, I loved it.
Looks like you've got a pretty good one there, seems to be in pretty good nick externally - TBH i think 195bhp is pretty good for a vette, they
really strangled them in the later years - down to 150 by the end, but you should be able to get that up easily getting rid of the emissions crap, a
decent inlet, carb, headers and igntition setup.
Hope you enjoy it!
Next to my corvette
no spares sorry but i got my mums running today, its been at the back of the shed for the last 8 years ,the mice seem to love it . I keep telling them
its a shame to keep it and not use it and somebody else would enjoy it more but it will probably go for an mot now its out and have the work done to
it... and then go back in the shed to perish.
stingray
its a got 4 speed manual box lol
