Anybody know when the ring has a track day for us to give it a try?

There aren't really many 'track days' on the Ring, and they are expensive when they do run. If you go here then you can search the calendar for the days and weekends when the track is open to the public. You just pay per lap on these days.

There's lots to read on http://www.nurburgring.org.uk to understand how it all works, rules, etiquette etc.

Do you mean the nordshleife or the GP circuit?

Any part of the circuit.

Got a mate from Oz coming over.

The nordshleife is open during some weekends for tourist laps. Not sure about the main circuit although I supsect you may need a race licence for that

Im going in June!
We are aiming for the 'open to public' days. Basically you just turn up, pay for a lap and drive around the 14 odd mile track. You dont do the whole massive long straight becasue you peel off early.

Check the above mentioned website to get a date in mind. If you want details or feed back of a hotel U2U me.

If you want to pay money and go to an iconic track then Spa is closer. You pass it on the way!

we were there on a private day on monday, it was the gp and the nordshleife all in one, it was awsome but very very expensive once you take into account chunnell, trailer hire 2 nights hotels, £120 of fuel just for the day. I think there is another one planned already in August.

Just search the Above (top) site link for the "open to public" days...

And don't worry about not being able to get down the full straight - it's a straight, it's about as boring as it gets to driving a fast car - I've gone over 180 at about half the distance before having to pull back into the car park and that's prob fast enough for most... Oh, and that also includes going through both start and stop "marks" so you can try and do a sub10min lap, if that's your thing...
