Bloody Tin-Top Woes

hello all!

went out in the tin top earlier to pick up some icing sugar for a fried who was making some cakes. got in started her up and off i went, popped into tesco, picked up my icing sugar and then back to the car.

stuck the key in and turned it 2 clicks to set the fuel pump off to prime the rail, then the lights started flashing! tried to start the car but got nothing. the hazardous car and spanner logo on the dash went blinking away in a world of its own!

looked in the manual to see that its the immobiliser and hense why i couldn't start the car, tried disconnecting the battery but no joy. the key battery is fine as well.

any idea's on how to reset the immobiliser on a 1.9 cdti Astra?

car is currently sat in Tesco's car park as i don't have breakdown cover but the car is under waranty so i will be calling the dealer first thing in the morning!

All the best

Alex

just a thought and of no use but the tesco's near me only alloy 2 hours parking then they charge you £80, maybe worth checking and having a chat with the manager.

"for a friend who was making some cakes" - yeah yeah, we believe you!

Might be worth going back quick before you get hold of Vauxhall. I remember something about the sensors would stop the engine from starting if the last journey was too short to warm the cat up.

Are you thinking Alex might be a sugar daddy?

Is there a fuel cut-out switch? The sort of thing that triggers in the event of a bump? My Ma's Berlingo had a habit of not starting but the hazard lights and MIL light came on. Push the little cut-out reset and job done. May be worth a looksy?

well ive just been down the independant vauxhall repaired about 50 yards from where my car broke last night, they reckon that my immobiliser has lost the signal to the key so therefore goes into shut down mode and turns the car off!

£35 + VAT for a diagnostics and they're not even charging me a tow in fee which i thought was spot on!

lets just hope its an easy fix!

Petrol and matches came to mind there for a minute...
