Getting the cash is no problem.

Just don't tell him that he will not be able to register it in France.

AND if he does get it registered he has to tell me and a few others how to do it!!

I sold a kit car (Q reg) to a German guy. I told him it was his problem to sort out export/import etc. as I was selling it to him in the UK. He turned up with a pocketful of cash then went to London for the day so I had time to go to the bank and make sure it was kosher.

I filled in the V5 as per normal (not the export it as I wasn't exporting it), put his name and address as the buyer and scanned his ID card as some sort of evidence. I also got him to sign a receipt "bought as seen on [date]".

He came back in the evening and set off for Dover... I kept thinking I was going to get a call saying it had conked out, but he must have got there OK.

When I sent off the V5 to the DVLA I also sent a covering letter and copies of the ID card, etc. No comebacks so far (5.5 years on!)

We sold a kit built in the70s to an English couple living in France, after almost a year of bureaucracy it is now registered as a historic vehicle, fortunately we had all build details/ receipts., letters from factory, VOSA or whoever etc and it wasn't a Q platehth
