I was driving home on friday and started braking for a roundabout from 70(ish ) mph and there was a loud pop almost like a tyre blow out. Got round
the roundabout and heard a speed related tapping sort of noise (like you get with a flat tyre) pulled over and got out to find all the tyres were
fine. Managed to get it home driving less than 20mph as the noise was pretty bad by this point. Unfortunately i didnt have time to pull the wheels off
to investigate but did manage to jack up the car to check the wheel bearings but the wheel has no 12 and 6 movement what so ever.
Does anyone else know what might cause this sort of noise?
may help if you say what car it is
i'd check all the tyres very carefully. You could have picked up a nail. check for bulges too

Stone between backplate and disc.
Knackered UJ on the rear
Wheel bearing failure, PITA this one to change, oddly flashing ABS usually occurs as the bearing goes south.

De-lam off a tyre
