Autosport show 2011 worth a visit?
Fred W B - 9/5/10 at 06:52 PM

My wife has to attend a conference in London UK early in January 2011. I could join her there to make a bit of a holiday of it, but of course it's the wrong time of year to visit to see car shows / motorsport stuff.

Will the Autosport 2011 show in Birmingham be worth the trouble to work into the itinerary for me? I see it is on the 13th to 16th of Jan, which day would be best to plan for? Is it easy enough to wangle an entry on the "press" day, which I presume is Thursday the 13th?

Or, are any other petrolhead things worth doing on in the lower part of the UK the first two weeks on January?

Cheers

Autosport is very good for all stuff car race and modification wise.

Depends what you're going for. I've been the last two years and it's okay. Might be able to wangle some deal at daemon tweaks or wilwood or something. I have been on the fridays when it is far less busy so if you can get in on the trade days then do

i dont know if it would be open, but people always say the motor museum at Gaydon is worth a visit. Maybe someone local will have some input on that.

Well worth a visit. make sure you go to the live action arena for your winter motorsport fix. some good deals to be had too on racewear and parts. bring an extra suitcase!

not much else going on car wise in January except for motor museums

Yep... definitely worth a visit!

Plenty to see and lots to buy!

Been going for years now but this year was my last unless they change the format. The live action arena this year was terrible and there were less stands/halls than previous years.

Expensive tickets, parking and food dont help.

Worth a visit if your after a specific purchase but thats it.

Just my 2p worth

Been going for years and I agree last year was not so good at the trade days as a lot of stands could only afford to be present on the open days - perhaps they will revise their pricing policy in these hard times who knows?

Still worth a visit. you can get into the trade days if you have a motorsport licence of some sort - email them if going they are quite helpfull.

You have to be a bit pushy at the stands to get the reps to say anything of significance but I got a few gems of info last year whioch made the flight worthwhile

cheers
