A what? replica

MK9R - 18/5/10 at 11:02 AM

ouch, ouch, my eyes, my eyes!!! GT40 Replica!! More like a replica of a polished turd???

blue2cv - 18/5/10 at 11:02 AM

Surely if its a Dutton it would be based on a mk2 Escort, sorry all couldnt resist

Stott - 18/5/10 at 11:08 AM

I couldn't see the resemblance but my mrs could apparently

Ooooh that's nasty. You wonder why they went to all the trouble of building it without bothering to get accurate plans made up.

MikeRJ - 18/5/10 at 11:28 AM

Well, I suppose it's very vaguely GT40 shaped, and to be honest it's not *that* bad looking. If you squint a bit.

You aren't going to get anything like a decent GT40 replica for £6k anyway. I'd certainly rather drive this than the Beetle based Countach replica I saw at Exeter a few years back.

I agree, if it wasn't called a gt40 replica and had it's own name nobody would be having this reaction, a replica, it is not, though

iank - 18/5/10 at 11:50 AM

No ones's mentioned the fact the engine's in the back end. Which dutton chassis is that based on then?

If it's been chopped around enough to move the engine I doubt it's legal (unless it's had an SVA/IVA in its current configuration) and is just another V5 donor job.

If you read the Q&A, it's a Tornado using Dutton credentials...

Indeed, 'back in the day' all you needed was an MOT to register a kit, it's never been legal to recycle V5's.
