What happened to Standard Ratchet Screwdrivers?
bigbravedave - 12/6/10 at 10:47 AM

The old man was chuntering on that you can't buy "normal" ratchet screwdrivers anymore and you can only buy the multibit ratchet handles with the slot in bits, that are "no good when your up a ladder and only have 2 hands lad" so does anyone know where I can get a flat blade a philips and a pozidrive ratchet screew driver, what with fathers day approaching?

Many thanks in advance

why not get him two ratchet screw drivers - then he can choose what bits to put in before he goes up the ladder - might be useful if one is small pozzi and one large!

(or just glue the bits in)

You're not wrong, my dad's in his 60's and still scampers up and down precariously balanced ladders. I really wish he wouldn't though.

On that kind of I would never even think of using anything but cordless driver with a double ended reversible bit.

Same here to be honest.

I have to admit, where i read 'What happened to Ratchet Screwdrivers?' my main thought was 'There crap..' both the ratchet type (that ive only ever seen with interchangeable bits) and the yankey type which are just waiting for you to stick the screwdriver through the work peice.

Crap and dangerous. Blood blisters galore and knakered work piece when the bit slips out
As said old school (not skool) get an electric one
