Morning gang,

Went to Le Mans last week, and as we were taking passengers, I hoovered and cleaned the car. The footwells on the drivers' side were wet (before I washed the car) and afterwards were sopping. Every time we had a downpour over the weekend, the footwells got wetter and wetter, even when the car was just parked, at one point it was a couple of inches deep (!)

Because it's only one die, I presume it's one of the door seals, and as it's worse at the back, I presume it's that one that's leaking - any ideas of common leakage points / blocked drain holes, and how to test to see where it's coming in from?

PS - Le Mans was brilliant

boot is a common fault on the v dubz. worth cleaning all the seals with wd40 and the doors where they meet and see if that helps.

just an idea.

i got mine sorted on my old bora by cleaning the seals and checking they are seated right. then adding some wd40 onto them to help them de grease.

could be that the bulkhead drain holes are blocked, had it happen to mine! They were full of leafs, poked them out, about 3ltr of water came out too.

Open the bonnet at the top right.

Bulk head drain holes have a look in the bulk head under the screen and it will be full of water.

there are 2 drain holes from memory 1 under battery and 1 the other side both can be dificult to get to but I have had to do this on both my passat's

The Audi s3/Seat Leon platform (which I am sure share designs with the passat) suffer with a leaky door seal problem...

Water enters past the window rubbers and is suposed to drain out the bottom of the doors..

Over time the drains get blocked and the foam/rubber seal that keeps the water outside the car fails resulting in water trickeling into the car...

If you take the door cards off you will find a steel tray behind with the speaker bolted to it... between this tray and the door will be a very stupid foam/rubber seal.... The fix with the Leon is to remove the tray, scrape off the seal and then re-seat it on the door with some decent non smelling silicone... (or get upgrade seals from VW for a lot of money)!

as above, only the drain holes can still be free and it'll leak, the water just tracks down the regulator parts and onto the door membrane then into the car.

If you've got the steel window regs do this : LINK You haven't got to remove the reg.

If you've got regular PU door membranes, you may have to seal them up somehow, using windscreen sealant worked for me in the past.
