that was my first question, he is running a cossie diff with irs. he made the rear wishones himself, looked like a good job too from what i could see.

is it a gt6 or a tr6?

me too but my second thought was that there would be no problem as it wouldn't get 50 yards without blowing the original diff - this would therefore necessitate a new rear end.

I love the mk4 spit and the GT6, I would love the opportunity to rid them of their festering chassis and hopeless running gear, time and money have a lot to answer for!

The gt6 is a great car! I thought about putting the m3 stuff into one. keeping it a straight 6 then too

Yes, do they still have the cart spring handing?

Dusty - 20/6/10 at 10:42 PM

Earlier ones have a prettier rear end. You can treat them as a kit car and mod the suspension and running gear although the chassis is a bit flexi. They are tiny inside. I have a standard Mk 2 awaiting resto.
I should add the pic below isn't my car and I would go for minilites but otherwise gorgeous.

The red GT6 belongs to Colin Geer. Not seen him in ages...
The car many years ago had I think initailly a 2000 then fitted with triple webers, then nitrous, then went 2300 (last 2 may have order swapped) then a single BIG SU and a turbo. It also converted to supra diff and coilovers at the rear (Triumph front suspension VERY good, as used by caterhams)
In the end headgaskets were such an issue he went cossie. A very quick car. And very well developed.

BTW nothing very wrong with the spitfire/GT6 chassis. The diffs are OK up to 200bhp, not as strong as the ford stuff, but very adequate. And the cars are a different kettle of fish to kitcars.... as are the owners ( ie much better for transporting ladies in )
