My local car auction (Intercity Glasgow http://www.intercitymotorauctions.co.uk/) is offering free short term car insurance with Aviva when you buy a car ---- anybody used it ? what if any is the catch ? it must be fairly high risk for the insurers.
Probably find it carries a very high excess.
Very handy, used the service when we got my Dad his motor. You phone them up, give all the usual details, they hop eyou will continue with the cover
and pay up. No catch, I don't think there was even much chasing to take out the years cover. Plus it means you can drive away, tax the car etc no
hassle.
I don't remember, but I suspect it is only open to "low risk" people, ie low claims/points
Most of these car supermarket type places offer a similar facility, bit of a loss leader by the insurance company to try to win business.
Also 7 days free with a HPI check for your £20 something (but they won't do kit cars!)

I thought autotrader did this too if you buy a car off their site?!?
Sure I used it a few years back
Used the insurance from intercity in Glasgow when I bought my Clio 182.
Thought I'd have loads of hassle with it being a hot hatch etc but no, you have to ring up Aviva, they go through the process of giving you a
full quote, you say no thanks, they give you 7 days cover. Dead easy.
As far as I remember the excess was a reasonable £300 but dont quote me on that.
Good result we ended taking a Rover 25 home 03 plate 32k miles very pleased --- only faults found were a nail in a tyre, a brake light bulb and 2
wiper blades required at £1300 including the hidden charges not bad for a nice motor.
