Swirl pot questions
omega0684 - 24/6/10 at 10:40 AM

Hi Guys,

I turn to the forum for insite and advice,

i am installing a Swirl pot system as a back up to stop any surging.

i have a couple of questions,

1) does it matter how far the swirl pot is from the low pressure pump? By the looks of things at the moment i am going to have the LP Pump @ the back of the car and the swirl pot in the front,

2) What is a good size to go for? at the moment i have designed a tank that will hold between 1.2 - 1.5 litres, is this enough?

3) the inlet (from LP Pump), the inlet (from the fuel rail) and the return to the tank are all JIC -6 (8mm). the inlet to the HP Pump at the moment has a JIC -8 fitting (12.7mm).

shall i stick with the JIC-8 fitting on the HP Pump and have a JIC-8 outlet put on the swirl pot or shall i change to a JIC-6 fitting on the HP Pump inlet and have a JIC-6 outlet on the swirl pot or does it not matter?

All advice welcome

Cheers

Personaly, I would have it as close to the tank as i can get it. Remember it is a LP pump. I would leave the HP pump do the rest.

But that is me.

Mine is under the bonnet next to the Throttle Bodies, So I didn't loose more boot space... even though |I already have zero.

mine is set up with the lp pump in the back with the swirl pot under the bonnet feeding the hp pump and fuel rail. As for the connection sizes id get leave it well alone and let the hp have as much fule as poss its that size for a reason..
