I'm getting a quote tomorrow for our garage to be replaced. It is currently a stand alone prefab single.
Does anyone know what I should expect to pay for either:
ground works for a double garage or
ground works plus prefab garage (don't know if the builders can get the for less than i could?)
Anyone had anything like this done before? I know a few of you have done your own but i don't think i am going to have the time.
Thanks
Rupert
Builders' quotes can vary by a big margin. I would get quotes from about 5 to see what the going rate is in your area.
Expect at least one to come round, look at the job, take away a drawing to quote from and never hear from him again.
Make sure that the stiffening rib around the concrete base is thick enough to avoid later cracking. Also that mesh is used in the foor area.

I had a double garage put up a couple of years ago. The ground work (i.e. laying the concrete base ) as about £2K and the garage was £4K (prefab Concrete sectional one)
Brilliant thanks - Where did you get the prefab from? Were you pleased with them?
My Garage is from Compton
and I'm very happy with the garage. the base was laid and left to go off for a couple of weeks, they delivered the garage sections and a few
days after, they erected it. It only took two guys half a day to put it up.
Couple of tips for you:
Remember and get a conduit in the base to bring the electrics in (assuming your feeding it from underground) as your not meant to drill hole in the
sections.
Don't buy there "special" shelving, it's easy enough to make brackets to hold up some shelving or what ever else.
Cheers
Scott

I built a 14x20ft(double in size) one for £3.5k including electrics/base/garage.
I did the base myself to ensure it was done properly and reinforced.
Got a compton garage for about £2200 built. Very very good quality and slightly safer than a brick built garage as you can't smash a hole in the
wall.
Compton it is then
they are advertising a sale at the moment - Do they always have a sale on do you know?
I quite like the look of the pitch roof ones - I'm guessing these are expensive?
