Yep took it down the motorway goes like a train when giving it the beans
try refiting filter make sure its not leaking air in on joint
particular filter issue?
fuel injectors blocked
i would first get some redex in it on 1/4 tank a full tub of it. run that and when nearly empty fill up and see if that helps.
if not then goto local bmw specialist not main dealer and see what comes up on diags.
hope that helps.
i have the e60 155k miles and that is running a little rough mine is particular filter (simular to a CAT)

"Particulate Filter...
Filters the particles from the exhaust and often fills up with soot... run it for 10 minutes at 3000 revs or more to burn it off. They do fail though
and are VERY expensive to replace on a lesser car, BMW - well, nuff said

Thanks for all the replies guy's
Hellfire,i know exactly what you mean with the filter,i had the same problem with a new shape S40 Volvo diesel they wanted a £1000 to replace and
refill dealer only part and that was trade price!.
Managed to reenergise it with fresh adative which was £160.
Thanks again all
If it is the particulate filter then yep, balls off revving etc. I believe that is the official instruction to dealers when our cars come in because a
customer gets a MIL about the filter.
However, I'm more inclined to say it's an air leak, as sounds very much like what my diesel car did when it was sucking air into the pipes.
Furthermore, if it only showed up as a problem after you changed the filter, I doubt it's the partic. filter.
given that the last item touched was a change of fuel filter when the problems occured then you need to focus in this area checking that the seal is
good and just because its new does not mean its working when i used to work at a chrysler jeep and dodge dealer in doncaster we used to get faulty
fuel filters now and then where by they sucked in air and would not run
as regards the part filter if doing a manual regen does not cure the fault of blocked part filter then you can take it off and steam clean it out it
has to be hot water cleaner to do this and no it does not damage the filter
Try the MAF - disconnect it, if the car runs better with it disconnected the MAF that is contaminated
