my fuel tank has been in its chassis now for a few months and as the rest of the car is dusty, I would imagine it to have a layer of dust on the inside.

before I fit my fuel filler and fuel pump, should I clean in out?

in hindsight I should have blocked the fuel filler neck with a rag but hey ho.

Did you put an inline fuel filter in the fuel line? If you did then I'd just fill it up and after the next fill up then just replace the fuel filter.

Blow it out with an airline? Stick the flexible hose from a vaccum cleaner in the tank? Put in an extra clear filter on the tank outlet to check for debris?

I wont have a filter until after the pump

if it were me, I'd unbolt it and clean it out , assuming it is a simple job and gearboxes/engines do not need removing.

can you not use a vacuum cleaner to clean most of the stuff out?

Not sure using an electric motor to suck out petrol fumes is a good idea

its a brand new tank

im definatley not takign it out , so it needs to be cleaned in situ

i think a quick vacum sounds like the best idea

im talking maybe 1mm of dust here, like someone said maybe I will need to change my fuel filter sooner once its running.
