Bet that was nice with Maxi power

minitici - 15/7/10 at 03:09 PM

You could always scratch build a Countach - like this guy in the States.
Linky
It only took him 17 years and he had to excavate into his basement to get the completed car out

It is a real work of art with full aluminium bodywork.

scotty g - 15/7/10 at 03:10 PM

Rough?, no kidding!!!!
Man alive thats nasty.
Can't help with your questions though matey, probably on a beetle chassis?
cheers.

smart51 - 15/7/10 at 03:18 PM

It might be a nice project for someone with an engine and no car to put it in but £2k?

afj - 15/7/10 at 03:23 PM

just to add its not for me my boss has a hankering for a countach and wants a bmw 5l v12 in it

Danozeman - 15/7/10 at 03:32 PM

Ok...the one in the basement is very nice, very accurate. Yet the one in the ad is pretty awful.

Why? Well, the Countach panels are nearly flat.....but they ARE curved.... very slightly, very subtley, and that IMO makes the biggest difference....assuming both were finished.

jossey - 15/7/10 at 03:51 PM

the kit looks like a first triangle g kit. but its been messed with alot by the looks of it.

you can get some good kits from extreme in hull.

but thats not one of them.

dave

nitram38 - 15/7/10 at 05:12 PM

The original beetle based "kit" was called a Panache
Very few built thank god!
This is coming from a man (me) who built a Mirage Countach and took 5 years getting the body right!

gottabedone - 15/7/10 at 05:43 PM

This one looks like the body and panel fit is by Hygena

.............and you can buy a Stylus for that money

Sounds like he wants to end up with something decent and is prepared to put some money into it. So for pity's sake make sure he doesn't start with that pile of crap!! That looks less like a Lambo than that Triumph TR40 thing looks like a Ferrari. In fact that thing looks less like a Lambo than a TR40 looks like a... battleship What on earth happened to that rear wheel arch? Looks like someone slipped - but a slow slip over weeks of mold making/glassing with constant inspection? How??

Uuurgghhh

afj - 15/7/10 at 07:02 PM

thanks everyone, i know its a bit of a sh*tter but they dont come along that often and im quite well looked after at work so im keeping my eye out for his dream car
i just got a U2U with a possible lead on a car that could fit the bill(thanks) but anyone else who stumbles across a part built/ crashed countach please u2u me.

oh and the rear arches arnt too bad if the look at the very early countach they have a similiar odd look to them

Stott - 15/7/10 at 08:03 PM

No wonder the inertia is missing, there's no engine
