Interesting week building Defenders!

Just spent a week in Solihull on the line building Defenders (bulkheads, wiring harnesses and associated bracketry).

Bollock me, I'm knackered!

Got another week coming up in August, although will probably (hopefully) be on another line.

My worries began when I got to my station and the guy showing me it gave me the tools I needed:

pair of chunky pliers
a big mallet
cordless drill driver
rivet gun
lube
fanny pliers (forceps)

Makes the office seem like a doddle in comparison!

Add a 13mm spanner and duck tape and you have a complete Defender tool kit

I need a new bulkhead for mine if you can get one in your butty box. And a couple of doors when you're on that part of the line please

Not surprised really! Although you're probably best getting an aftermarket one

And it's not duck tape... get it right mate.. it's MAGIC tape. That and the black sealant stuff can literally fix anything. Good to know that it's not just us that think that

Me and a friend of mine recently gave his 90 a new lease of life with a galv chassis. We ended up replacing a fair bit at the same time, as he upgraded a load of stuff (in for a penny, and all that jazz). It's actually quite surprising how it all comes apart and goes back together - I was expecting it to be a lot more intricate, but turns out it really is just like a big boy meccano set! I knew they were supposed to be a simple car, but it all seemed a bit too easy.... Still, 4 day turnaround from stripping to rebuilding can't be that bad!
