A set to complete my car
Mark Allanson - 23/7/10 at 04:32 PM

I have wanted a set of these for ages, what is the general consensus on the price, personally I think the starting price is about double what they are worth - or am I just tight?

I got rid of a set of those a couple of years ago for £300, they were still attached to a MK2 Escort.

Kind regards

John

its best offer so maybe he just wants to see what people think they are worth
if you want them just offer what you think they are worth to you

I've still got the ones that came on my doner Escort - they are a bit scruffy from being sat for over ten years , I could dig them out and take a picture if you want to see if they are any use ?

Scotty - I'm surprised that you haven't bought a few sets at that price! You could have then sold them on for a loss to Mark our original poster! Seems to be your usual modus operandi with ebay!

It's nearly happened... and more than once!

So have I but as usual, they are hundreds of miles away from me and are pick up only
One of the problems of living near Lands End!

Easily dealt with Mark... just ask them to slap an address label on each one and tell them you'll arrange a courier to collect.

They shouldn't get arsey as there's no packaging to do. They're old wheels - they'll need a little TLC anyway, so who cares if they get a couple of more days of being lugged around without any cushioning.

It should cost you more than £25 either if you go through a firm such as Interparcel... all dealt with online and you can arrange the date, place and person they are collected from, so it's no more inconvenient than arranging the slot to pick them up yourself!

I have tried that, best quote was £50 and they wanted the wheels boxed at the other end - something I would have no control over.

scootz - 23/7/10 at 06:00 PM

£50!

Who gave you that quote? You can get a lot cheaper than that!

scootz - 23/7/10 at 06:01 PM

In fact... if the chap at the other end is willing to tape the four wheels into two pairs, then you'll get that price down to £15.

NigeEss - 23/7/10 at 06:48 PM

If any come up close to me I will happily collect and package for you. I'm sure others here would help too.

scootz - 23/7/10 at 06:54 PM

Yep... me too!

I have used http://www.paisleyfreight.com/index.php quite a bit Mark

Prices are reasonable & have found them to be quite reliable.

Most decent Ebay sellers will do some basic packaging for you

Thanks for the offers, really appreciated.

Perhaps i could persuade Luke, my son, currently doing a John O'Groats to Lands End cycle to pick them up for me - he is currently at Lochranza, due to get the ferry to Ardrossan tomorrow at 2.00pm
