Time to liberate an engine

So this weekend it was time to strip out the donor zetec. With my girlfriend enthused about helping to get the car sorted (she loves the jeep) we set about getting the engine out. Some work had been done before, removal of most coolant hoses and the wiring loom inparticular but this still left a fair amount to do (at a relaxed pace)

With everything in the top half of the bay dismantled and no power or crane I decided gravity was the strongest force available so with some jack-on-blocks shonkiness up she went

After we got rid of all the badly designed rusty crap (I know why Im a Vauxhall fan now) I could finally drop the engine out (using two beams across the bay and two lengths of rope to manually lower it on my own…)

At this point on the carpet I could barely even drag it so the gearbox was unbolted and removed (WTF is with the stupid bar bracing the box to the alternator mounts?

Then with some help we managed to get it into a trailer and home onto a dolly and tucked away in the garage

So next time I need to remove the rocker cover and replace the gaskets and paint it, fit a new cambelt, clutch, oil filter, remove the extraneous mounts, make up a start and charge loom and fit the MT75 with the release bearing spacer and then its ready to go in
