Check the connectors under the seats to the seat belt pre-tensioners. Poor connectors there is the most common cause.

Bam, that's what Vauxhall told me ^^

They also told me the computer had to be reset too, although instead of paying £180 for them to do it try switching the ignition on and off about 50 times (worked on my mondeo)

More likely to be the 'squib' on steering wheel coluum- very common fault on vauxhalls.

Should it be under the sea?

Thanks for the replies chaps - very useful - I'll take a look when she brings it over at the weekend.
Could you just clarify a couple of points? The seat belt pre-tensioners what do they look like - or is it just the electrical connections under the seat I need to check?
And the squib? not sure what bit this is - do i look under the plastic housing around the column or something around where the steering wheel attaches?

cheers

This is an astra squib, not under the sea, its under the steering wheel cowls,

Mmm local word here for firework is squib (pronounced skweeb)

The seatbelt pre-tensioners are in the buckle and pull the belt tight in the event of a crash. It's just the connectors you need to check though.

The squib is behind the wheel and connects the airbag (rotating) to the column (fixed). You won't see any problem with it though and needs diagnostic kit to test.

DON'T start messing with the airbag/sqib though untill the battery has been disconnected for at least 20mins.
