first car accident this morning. only minor, but my fault. shunt at a roundabout, usual thought the car front was going, and the gap was big enough
for 2. only he stopped and I didn't. damage minor to both cars.
in the company car, so no claim on my insurance thankfully. but even so, no doubt premium is going to get loaded due to an accident.
thought I was doing ok, 8 years with no bumps
oh well!
Welcome to the club David! Been there and done that!
And good on you for fronting up to the blame... seems we live in a culture these days where it's standard procedure to deny liability
irrespective of the circumstances!
least it wasnt in the kit!
I did similar on my moped once a couple years ago, came off of a roundabout in town, and a lorry was stopped on the side of the road just after the
exit, i turned my head to see what had happened with the lorry, turned back around and the car in front had stopped. Slammed my brakes, front wheel
locked up on a wet day, straight into the back of the car infront! Luckily wasnt high speed, just smashed up my front mud guard (ped was crap anyway
so didnt make a huge difference to me) and a bit of blue paint on the cars rear bumper. Thankfully the guy i hit couldnt have cared less so no claim!
did exactly the same in a company car about 10 years ago, cracked my number plate and popped other car infronts number plate light out of the bumper,
that was it. I gave her my business card and said obviously all my fault but as there was no damage (i popped light back in for her) assumed would
hear nothing more. 6 months went by, no claim made on damage, but then received a solicitors letter saying they were claiming for whip lash
injuries!!!!!!!!! I ignored the letter and didn't hear anything else, so no idea if anything else happened.

Horrible feeling I know, noone is infallible.
But.. next time at least flip the thing!
They call that the "thought he'd gone" shunt. Morally the fault of the car in front. People who stop when they should go should be dragged from their cars, bent across the bonnet and birched.

Oh well, we live and learn I guess....
Will be interesting to see what effect it has on my insurance...
Funny enough my Leon renewal came through today and its over £100 more than it was last year already
both times i did it i managed a cash settlement! About 250 for a light cluster first time, and £100 for no visible damage second time
