stig ????

http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/showbiz/television-news/2010/08/23/company-accounts-increase-evidence-that-racing-driver-ben-collins-really-is-top-gear-s -the-stig-86908-22507986/

I thought it was Perry McCarthy

Andi - 23/8/10 at 11:19 AM

Link doesnt appear to be working

balidey - 23/8/10 at 11:19 AM

Perry was the black stig

mookaloid - 23/8/10 at 11:30 AM

think it has long been suspected that it is Ben Collins F3 Driver

loggyboy - 23/8/10 at 11:34 AM

Revised link for the OP
linky

[Edited on 23/8/10 by loggyboy]

Daddylonglegs - 23/8/10 at 11:35 AM

Nope, still not working

balidey - 23/8/10 at 11:37 AM

2nd link still doesn't go anywhere for me

But, the story is that according to Ben Collins accounts he has been taking payment from Top Gear for driving services since Perry Mcarthy stopped being the black stig.

Even though its widely assumed it is Collins, this is just 'extra evidence'.

woodster - 23/8/10 at 11:39 AM

new linky fingers crossed

scootz - 23/8/10 at 11:40 AM

As I understand it... there are MANY Stigs!

There may be one dedicated driver for the TG nonsense-features, but when 'The Stig' puts a Porsche around the track it's a Porsche nominated driver behind the helmet. When 'The Stig' puts a Ferrari around the track it's a Ferrari nominated driver behind the helmet. Etc... etc... etc...

I was told this by a race / test driver who has been 'The Stig'.

loggyboy - 23/8/10 at 11:41 AM

I think its been faily obvious its him for years, but I really dont see the obsesion with having to confirm it. It only spoils it if they have to replace him as it technically means all times on the hot laps board would be null and void. Santa doesnt exist, but it doesnt mean the Sun and every other paper see the need to plaster it to spoil all the childrens fun, why do they feel we even care who it is?

Even though i am a top gear fan, I too dont see the fuss in finding out who it is......

GMPMotorsport - 23/8/10 at 12:25 PM

Does it really matter who it is? it's just a bit of fun that the press want to spoil

Vindi_andy - 23/8/10 at 12:31 PM

As I understand it there are many many people who have been the stig depending on who is available at the time of filming and has been said who the manufacturer are prepared ot allow in their car.

IIRC when the had the ferari that you dont keep at home ( cant remember the model) It was actually Schumachers so it was him driving it

Johneturbo - 23/8/10 at 01:06 PM

Go back to the health and saftey report on Hammy crash and its all there in black and white

zilspeed - 23/8/10 at 05:53 PM

For as long as the identity is hidden, or at least not officially confirmed, it can be anyone. And this is exactly how it should be.
That means that it could be the guy next to the Furore as far as the public are aware. (Although the trainers are a bit cack to be fair.)

Just like a red suit and a false beard belong to all the santas all over the world, the identity of the Stig doesn't belong to whoever is in the suit and never should. The car is what matters, not the driver, and we don't need his opinion.

morcus - 23/8/10 at 05:55 PM

The Stig is a character rather than a real person, who's playing that character at the time isn't all that relevant to me.

In Other news, Ben Collins Tax return shows he was paid by a toy company in the North pole on the 26th of december, every year going back quite away. Ben Collins is Santa!!!

dave - 23/8/10 at 06:02 PM

Ben Collins and the BBC started this, Ben Collins wants to put out an autobiography but the BBC have said he is not allowed to refer to him being the Stig. Who cares if its 1 or 100 different drivers.

russbost - 23/8/10 at 06:34 PM

"Although the trainers are a bit cack to be fair" Ha Ha!!!, now if wer're being fair the whole outfit only cost me £150 & the overalls are at least Proban!

Ninehigh - 23/8/10 at 07:28 PM

OMG Russ just admitted to being the Stig!

Shame to see you leaving your job

Hey I remember him!

russbost - 30/8/10 at 01:24 PM

"OMG Russ just admitted to being the Stig!"
No, I only said I have a Stig outfit - I'm not saying i was wearing it!

Ninehigh - 30/8/10 at 03:32 PM

Well if the suit fits...

mangogrooveworkshop - 1/9/10 at 06:27 PM

The accounts also state that the job at the BBC "offers good long-term prospects for continuing income"

Think own goal is the term used

Ninehigh - 2/9/10 at 06:57 PM

Well you can't write a book on your life and miss out about 4 years...
