i would say NO dont buy

only because Hella have just launched a range of LED headlights and they cost £1500 so i dont see how a 99p unit could compare

The reason most manufacturers havnt introduced led lighting on they're models is due to the heat generated (huge heat sinks are required), so introducing these units to your standard surround could be potentially disastorous in my opinion, especially without any heat sinks. I beleive the only manufacturer that has achieved this at huge expense is Audi with the R8 V10.

Think they've also go to have some ability of self levelling as well, not worth the risk of glaring some poor bugger coming the opposite way.

I made a lighting unit for a guy a while back, using a 5W led. It needed a1degC/watt heatsink and was dangerously bright at close range straight on.
I would think Audi probably use the front wing as a heatsink.

As replacements for an H7 headlight? Forget it - they are nowhere bright enough and don't have a beam pattern. Purely just for 'show cars'.

If you want to get 3 times the light for half of the power just go for HID.

hmmm.... can't see how you will get the correct beam shape with those.

but for a quid, it is work it for the LED chips alone, assuming they can be removed without damage and re-used.

Latest news from Hella is the intelegent LED headlamps they're working on. Basically a whole array of focused LED's pointing in slightly different directions and the beam is controled by switching on/off various ones. One advantage is one lamp can do both left and right hand drive... but also is a computer can recognise other vehicles and make a "hole" in the beam so as not to dazel them. In effect you could follow a car down a country lane with full beam on and not dazel them in the mirror or meet another car coming the other way and not have to dip your lights.
