For the initial problem, please see this thread. My 2008 VW Gti 2.0 turbo was making a horrible noise this weekend.

Here is a video of my car that I took this morning at idle waiting for the service shop to open. Very emberassing to be driving it like that, I got a lot of funny looks from people. It's definitely a valve of some sort, pressure control, diverter, not quite sure but the car is still under warranty so no out of pocket for me. Whew....
