Sending a bike engine on a pallet
Johneturbo - 7/9/10 at 10:18 PM

I know a couple people have used palletways to send bike engines

but whats the best way of securing the engine to the pallet!?

jonno - 7/9/10 at 10:22 PM

We've used an old car tyre and a couple of cheap straps before, it arrived alright

Johneturbo - 7/9/10 at 10:28 PM

ok old car tyres i have! i was thinking 1" rachet straps or loads of duck tape!

Cling film! It is the dogs danglies for wrapping up and securing your engine. Just use a roll of heavy duty cling film to wrap around it and onto the pallet. My mate moves lathes this way and I ship engines, G/boxes etc.

Fyi
Cling film works well for an engine on a pallet but we have found the best engine shipping solution is to use a cut down plastic drum.

The drum is secure, can be easily moved and hides the actual contents. Just make sure the drum is clean and had nothing hazardous in it

Just dont drive 40 miles to buy them.

I wrap mine in clingfilm aswell.

Ive ratchet strapped a car engine to a pallet and got some of that clingfilm from staples. Used the whole roll to wrap it up too.

Do you all mean cling film or shrink wrap?

l0rd - 8/9/10 at 12:57 PM

Industrial cling film

Johneturbo - 9/9/10 at 01:00 PM

Yep got the cling film/wrap from Staples, the engine looks like something a spider is saving for lunch
