Have a mate who is interested in buying my westy
What do you lads feel about selling a car to a Mate ?
I've always steered clear of doing it as i'd be gutted *If* anything was to go wrong with it when they'd bought it
Interested in your thoughts..
Cheers
Perksy
Dont do it !
If I was happy it was a good motor and nothing that you could predict/ know to fail was on the cards, then why not.
If it was a bit ropey, then probably avoid it to save any bad feeling or guilt

Friends and family, NO No no
If it goes wrong in a year its your fault and you will sell at your lowest price....
I have been bitten in the past, would not go there again, rather say I got offered a good deal and let it go.. even if its less.
... best avoided IMO, but if you decide to do ahead then tell him absolutely every little borderline issue. In fact, I would exaggerate them...
Straight up and honest is the only way to go
If he/she still wants to buy, then sold as seen with matey help
it shouldn't be an issue really. its the same as selling on ebay. Just be honest
I sold a car to my Dad that id been driving as my daily driver for a year BIG BIG MISTAKE. It had been perfect for me for a year and ran faultless,
his car got stolen so i lent him mine for two weeks and if he liked it could buy it anyway he did and then it all went to poo it seemed every week
something new was wrong with it we had a few fallings out about it and i really wish id sold it to someone else the whole thing left a bad taste so id
say friends and family no no no
on the other hand it might all go well,
but you could find yourself fixing it for ever
Ray
Sold a car to guy next door, ended up as his unpayed mechanic any time something went wrong. DON'T DO IT!!!
HTH Ray
If you do it, make it very clear that your in no way responsible for anything once its his and that your not going to fix it if it breaks or anything
like that.
I'd say don't do it because I know people who have. someone I used to work with sold his car to his sister, who didn't have it serviced
or check to oil or anything, and then blamed him 2 years later when it died from lack of maintenance. He was always going on about it because he loved
that car and only sold it to his sister so he wouldn't have to sell it to anyone else.
I got guilted into GIVING a car to my sister in law as she was skint. I was then like an RAC patrolman for the 18months she owned it.
Then I found out she was buying a brand new Ka and part exing the one I gave her for £500, clearly not skint anymore.
So I took it back off her and sold it, lol
he can buy mine if you like!
how much are you looking to sell it to him for?
