Not many kit cars around here...
David Jenkins - 27/9/10 at 08:06 AM

...in Sydney, Australia, that is!

All I've seen this week is 1 Cobra replica.

I know it's tough to build one here, but I expected to see a few more. Not that many 2-seater sports cars either - a few Porsches, 1 or 2 MX5s, that's all.

Still, 2 weeks to go!

bet you have mot seen many evos or imprezas with the heat over there you wont find many glass kits as they melt in the heat.

When I worked 'over there' a decade (or so) ago, there were still plenty of old Ford Falcons and Holdens chugging around (I had a old Land Rover with a 6 cylinder Holden in it, but I digress)....

Has it all gone silver/grey euroblob mundaneness - or are there still some old dinosaurs chugging around in the sunshine?

I was there about a decade ago as well. I had a 4l straight 6 Falcon and a 5l V8 Holden at various times. There was an Elise in my apartment block, a few body kitted 4 pot SE Asia cars, but it really all was "Are you a Holden man or a Ford man?"

Kit Cars are essentially a British phenomenon. The only ones you see here are Cobras.

I must admit that I've taken a fancy to the nicely finished V8 Utes I've seen everywhere. Very chavy, but smart!

Utes = smallish 2-seater pick-ups. Bit like a Ford P100 on steroids!
