It was designed to be as light as a 1980s super mini but weighs 999kg. They missed their target there then. Weren't small cars around 700 or 800kg in the 80s? What would Colin Chapman say?

Agreed... according to this a Pug 205 weighed 740 to 935kg

Put a 5.2 litre V10 and a suitable 4WD transmission, suspension, brakes etc. to handle the power, into your Pug 205. I suspect it will weigh around the 1 tonne mark with all that in.

I guess Lambo could install a 1.9 four pot and 2WD 5 speed box in there and get it down to 800 kg.
