I need to pick your brains again.
I want/need to change the front lower o/s suspension arm of my 2002 skoda octavia, for its MOT next week.
I have had a look and its attached in three places, two of which I can get to easily (ball joint, rear bolt), the one that worries me is the front
bolt that attaches to subframe.
I can see the bolt, but not sure if I can get to the nut.
Any tips? or is there no nut (i.e. does is screw into the frame somehow?
Some cars you need to lower the subframe to get at someo f the suspension bolts.
Might be worthwhile investing a few quid in one of those workshop manual CDs on Ebay, they usually have line drawings which are better than photos.
I did the lower arms on my wife's Octavia a couple of years back, and I don't remember it being a particularly difficult job. I'm 90% sure the nut is captive for the front mounting - though my memory is crap at the best of times!
thanks Mike, that's the words I was looking for - captive nut.
Could someone confirm this.
I do actually have a Haynes manual, however it is not great.
it does however not say anything about lowering the subframe.
Pretty sure it's a captive nut.

Excellent
Thanks all, sounds like it should be pretty straight forward then.
