Right, in my last thread i had a problem. The car died while driving. When you turned the key all the dash lights up and all electrics work but the
car doesnt turn over and the fuel pump wasnt priming. I checked everything and came to the conclusion that the ECU/immobiliser was at fault.
Went on ebay and got an ECU with key etc. This arrived today and i fitted it and the car started straight away and drove perfect for 30-40 miles.
Brought the car back home and gave it a quick wash then reversed it off the drive and it died again.
I know have the exact same problem as i had before. It is deff and ECU/immob issue.
When its working you turn the key and the red light stays red for 4-5 secs then goes out and the car starts. At the moment the light just flashes
till you turn the ignition then it just stops. I tried using a screwdriver in the ignition and got the exact same as i do using the key so its as if
it isnt reading the key. I have also changed the key reader from the ignition.
This is really pissing me off now and i cant understand how two different ECU's can do the same. Its as if someone is wiping my key.
Any ideas?
Any ECU repairs places you guys recomend? can the immobilliser be removed from the ECU?
could it be a bad connection of the reader?
Do you leave your key near magnets?
It might sound daft but do you live near a big supper market [ asda ] etc
My son had something like this happen with his skyline + a mate had the same with a renault it was something to do with there info dish sending info
that wiped the immobiliser both had to get them reset to start there cars both parked near asda

I have checked continuity from the reader to the ecu and all fine.
No supermakets nearby.
It's really got me stumped.
i was once told that the immobilser works with the central locking and they can immoblilis them selfs if ther is a central locking has a fault
may not be true as i never found the fault just bought a aftermarket ecu
how difficult is to swap to your old ecu?
Just a thought.
tried the old one and its still the same.
This time though it is bringing up a fault code 0115 which is a fault on the engine temp senor circuit iirc. this has the rad fan going constant.

The PATS related fault codes can be read with the LED test (see here).

Engine does not start: LED flashes rapidly Leave ignition on until the LED starts to flash a 2 digit code: (sequence- pause-sequence) Check the following codes:
Code flashes:
1:3 Key code not received. Is key screened by other keys or objects? Try different key: if okay then first key is faulty.
1:4 Partial code only received. Try again. If not okay use different key.
1:5 Key not programmed into PATS. Program key as above using master
1:6 Faulty link between PATS module and EECV

Just to clarify - I just checked my notes regarding the alarm being separate from the immobiliser, and this is how I had my Puma ECU connected when I
fired up my engine. They're definitely separate and unrelated systems.
