Skoda Fabia Lock Part 2
m8kwr - 7/11/10 at 07:43 AM

My wifes car locked failed, so I brought a second hand one of ebay.

I had to get at the lock from the inside and bash it apart to get at a part that would let me unlock the car etc.

To cut a long story very short.

Tested new lock out of door with central locking, fitted it, shut door, opened it, shut open etc etc etc

Pressed central locking shut door, pressed again to open it, and now it will not open again.. nothing i do will open the bloody thing.

What can I do next, or try after I have removed this new lock!!!!

Is was not a good day yesterday.

Did you check the wiring?

Sounds like a broken wire / loose connection on the "unlock" wire, if both units will lock, but not unlock.

would a vag com diagnostics reader thingy fault find the central locking, or is that just engine stuff?

Does anyone know a rough cost of going to a dealer to fault find this sort of thing?

Sounds like you'll have do wriggle test with a multi meter on the wirring.

What is a wriggle test?

wiggle the wires to find the break.

The wires normally break from the pillar to the door. It may not necesserily be a break on the unlock signal. Could be a short making it stay locked or holding the deadlock on.

would i need a multimeter to test etc? or just wiggle them and see what happens etc...

Or since i have not got a clue get someone else to wiggle for me
