For Xmas my family has decided to buy me a Scorpio cosworth, don't know when after Xmas though, so I can put the engine into my XR4x4. The idea being if they get the full car then I will have everything I need. Now I have been told that the BOA is easier than the BOB due to keys having chips and a few other little issues. So, 2 things really, 1 if I have a full car then surely I can just take part/all the wiring loom I need to make it work, if not why? 2 if I was to use a BOB engine is there one that is better than the other or are they all the same? Want to use a BOB as the have that little extra 12bhp and a better torque range. Had a look on various sites but not quite clear enough on the why's, often saying the BOB engine was used then an after market ignition/ECU system was used which I don't have the money for. So BOA or BOB?
My understanding is the boa ecu works better on a manual box.
As for the immobilizer, it makes no odds if you have the keys.
What about BOB cams in a BOA engine? Read that some people do that, is it worth while?
I think its normally the Cosworth profile BOA cams into the more conservative BOB engine, though the BOB produced more power i think?
Ive forgotten all the info since i sold the engine, but Chippy here is a wealth of knowledge.
Good luck, i still wished i had the time to put the 24V into mine.
BOA with BOB cams, Vectra V6 injectors, and Megasquirt 225+ BHP. The BOB just doesn't like being tied to a manual box, gives all sorts of
problems. There is a very good forum that deals almost exclusively with these engines, and some very good people that will give you the full nine
yards on the BOB. HTH Ray
