Where to get Hyundai parts?
BigFaceDave - 14/1/11 at 06:56 PM

Evening all, The starter on my dads hyundai santa fe has just started playing up and looks like a new one is required I have had a look about in the usual places (ebay etc) but I have never managed to find a good website or dealer that does any decent priced parts, any one got any recommendations? Or even better a starter going spare?!

Thanks in advance

2 main problems with Hyundai, 1, they're Hyundai, 2, Nearly all spares have to come from the dealer. It may have an engine from a different car, they used Vauxhalls a lot in the past, so may be worth doing some research on the engine.

How old is the Hyundai?

If it is under six years old the parts are covered under warranty. It does not matter how many owners it may have had.

It will be a Nippon Denso geared starter --- rebuild parts easy enough to get

its a 2004 so its out of warranty (I dont think the warranties where as long as they are now in 2004) Yes its a denso and I have found a repair kit for it but its just a nightmare to get anything for it at a decent price its possible but tricky.

Britishtrident thats the exact same place I found! I will give them a call tomorrow

I used to go to the dealer in Bolton when I had a coupe. They ordered the part in within a few days and were quite reasonable.

I've had similar problems with SWMBO's Coupe. It just needed a flexi joint on the exhaust and they wanted £250! The manifold is also leaking slightly but that runs into 4 figures!!

And I thought they were cheap to run

Not relevant to Hyundai but my brother in law had a Mercedes van and needed a new flexy. He was quoted a similar figure and I looked at it for him. The flex section is available as a universal fitting at the car spares where my wife is a driver at weekend and cost about £7 in the size needed. I cut the old one out and welded the new one in in an afternoon but I could have bought the next size up, slotted it and used clamps for a few pounds more. What is the year and model of the car? There are several different engines available in the range, petrol and diesel so there may be several starter options as well.
