2 of the points being "Nearside rear trailing arm has excessive play in a pin/bearing" and its offside counterpart.

I know the back wheels have a nice (unintended) camber angle, the driver's side to such an extent that the top of the wheel is rubbing.. I know some pug owners on here have had similar parts replaced in the past so does anyone know how much this would cost, or what it is I'd be asking other mechanics? The only info I got from the garage is "It's something we don't deal with"

All ideas welcome as this pretty much decides whether we fix it or scrap it, and missus is rather attached to her first car. If we got all this work done that's on the failure list we'd have a pretty much mint car too..

iirc its much easier to fit another axle

I have recently replaced the rear axle on my 106 work hack.
The bearings were siezed rather than collapsed but the effect is pretty
much the same.
I payed £40 for a complete rear axle and they are only held on with four bolts.Two inside the boot
and two under the back seat,other than that there are a pair of brake pipes and two hanbrake
cables to unhook.It took me about 2 hours to swap it over on my own.

Oh and any axle from a 106 or citroen saxo will do,as they are all the same.
Some have disks and some have 3/4 stud drums but the whole rear brake setup
is interchangeable to any axle.

Mine failed exactly the same... investigation found the swing arm bearings to have gone to the wind replaced with broken bits and rust. The excessive play wears the pin it pivots on rendering it as scrap.....

Got meself a beam out of of a 52 Saxo which is a doddle to replace, 4 bolts some brake pipes and out it comes.

If you feeling flush, there are places that refurb the beams for around £300

Yes found one supplied and fitted £175. Now hopefully the emissions fail is because of old petrol and not the cracked cat or there's another £120
