A V8 Atom looks "quite" fast.....

PSpirine - 23/1/11 at 08:13 PM

Yep.

Also looks "quite" hideous

pdm - 23/1/11 at 08:15 PM

Tiff's "quite" good as well isn't he.....

On a serious note - is it 2 Hayabusas put together ?

steve m - 23/1/11 at 08:28 PM

Yep.

Also looks "quite" hideous

hahahaha

I agree, bloody awfull

tomgregory2000 - 23/1/11 at 08:43 PM

Why gold?

Chavtastic

sonic - 23/1/11 at 08:45 PM

What is all this Cr-P with the Yeti or what ever it is!

Totally spoilt it with stupid rubbish like that, what was the point!

Turned over now!

adithorp - 23/1/11 at 08:46 PM

Looks a bit of a widowmaker in the hands of a mortal.

coozer - 23/1/11 at 09:08 PM

And, don't forget the hours of footage edited to make them all look 'quite' good...

carpmart - 23/1/11 at 09:14 PM

I liked it!

Not worth £150k.

franky - 23/1/11 at 09:23 PM

Just shows how good 12k bikes are really

Especially when edited to make the car look quicker

HowardB - 23/1/11 at 09:55 PM

shame that they wont let the Ultima "kit car" on.

would be good to see the 0-100-0 then

scootz - 23/1/11 at 10:03 PM

I'm one of the first to comment on how poor the show is getting, so it's only fair to say that I quite enjoyed that episode!

Didn't like the Beetle / 911 skit though, but that's probably because Hammond does my nut in!

hobbsy - 23/1/11 at 10:26 PM

On a tight ish track the Atom should win with it's 4x larger contact patches, longer more open track like Silverstone would be a different story though.

I'd turbocharge a Hayabusa BEC before spending £150k on a V8 Atom though - similar power but for a fifth or less of the price.

They say the engine and box is £50k and a 275bhp Atom is £30k (inc engine!) - so where does the other £70k+ go?

tegwin - 23/1/11 at 10:33 PM

And how many people will not believe clarksons "gospil truth" that the yeti is infact the greatest car ever :p

Pure comedy.. lol

RazMan - 23/1/11 at 11:18 PM

I thought this week's episode was really funny and entertaining - I actually had tears in my eyes at one point ........ but then again, I had just consumed the best part of a bottle of Shiraz so even the 10 o'clock news was funny

morcus - 24/1/11 at 12:23 AM

I thought it was a great start to the series, and gave me a new contender on my cars to buy when I win the lotto in that Modernised Interceptor.

I thought the Porsche thing was quite intresting and the way they edited the porsche lineage was amazing with the silouttes then seeing then all in a line.

JoelP - 24/1/11 at 05:59 PM

I liked the atom bit; thought that nonsense with dropping the beetle was... nonsense. The yeti was amusing enough though. Cant remember the rest!

plantman - 24/1/11 at 06:36 PM

It is a shame that they won't have the ultima on 'cos on their website the say they have done it in 1-09.9!!! round the top gear track.

And it would make the drag race really interesting

hobbsy - 24/1/11 at 11:07 PM

Yes I've always wondered that as really while you can buy an Ultima as a kit the Atom is fairly kit-car-esque. The Ultima can be bought turn key and clears speed bumps etc so you wonder what their agenda is in *not* letting it spank everything on the leaderboard. Maybe they get a TV license contribution from certain manufacturers in order to make them look good and Ultima don't want to pay?

NS Dev - 25/1/11 at 02:27 PM

Ha ha this is a big farce! My mate runs Ultima, and yep they have gone miles quicker (though bear in mind the 1.09 time was on slicks, but it ran 1.12 on road tyres after driving to the track on them)

BBC don't want to know, they've never really had an excuse as to why, odd as clarkson et al were very interested in the car when they ran it at the mph show!!

We "think" it has to do with Lee Noble (as in used to be Noble Automotive) being matey with the show, not sure if that's in a monetary sense or not, and the fact that Lee is no fan of Ultima now as he originally designed the first incantation of the car and subsequently sold the rights to my mate's dad, who then built a successful company on it.

Anyway, doesn't matter really, the ultima is quicker so no problem there!!

Interesting stuff that. Would be great to see the GTR smash everything. I read through the history of Ultima on their site the other day and it does make a point of highlighting the end point of Lee Nobles involvement lol.
